Horse First today announced their 2016 sponsorship of talented apprentice jockey Nathan Evans

Nathan Evans 18, originally from Magherafelt, has been apprentice for Mick Easterby in Yorkshire since the beginning of April last year. He rode his first winner just a few weeks later at Thirsk on board Among Angels, and hasn’t looked back.

Since then Nathan has produced an enviable strike rate for any apprentice jockey, riding 16 winners from 138 rides in under a year for the North Yorkshire based trainer. His latest win coming at Chelmsford on Bosham, on the 11th of February.

Horse First Sponsor Jockey Nathan Evans

Son of Paul & Claire Evans of Marsh Kyfe Equestrian Centre, Nathan has been in the saddle as long as he can remember. Starting off as a very talented showjumper, he is well known on the pony circuit in Ireland, having competed in 128 to 148 up and down the country. It was during this time that he first came across Horse First. “We always used Horse First products at home” said Nathan.

It was a natural progression for Nathan from the excitement of ponies to racing. “I went for a trial at RACE in Kildare, but before I was accepted, I had been offered the position of apprentice with Mick Easterby, and I couldn’t turn that down.” This seems like a great decision now, with another ride on Bosham on the cards at Wolverhampton on Monday, Nathan Evans, is definitely one to watch.

Paddy Hughes managing director of Horse First said “We are delighted to welcome Nathan to Team Horse First. He is our first sponsored flat jockey and he joins the team of national hunt jockeys; Robbie Power and Paul Carberry.  Our team here at Horse First feels Nathan has hit the ground running in England, using his experience riding as a junior showjumper to contribute to his success and determination as a flat jockey and we wish Nathan every success in his future.”

Lucy Hart's story with 'Relax Me'

Lucy Hart Relax Me'I would like to share with you my story of using RelaxMe on my rising 6 year old Jazz. Since buying her just broken last summer she has come so far but has always been very excitable and struggled with concentration. We have tried a variety of calming supplements, feeds and instant calmers but none had really made a difference. RelaxMe  was recommended by a friend. We bought some but, having had a bad experience with another calmer, were nervous about trying it. In April we went away to a 3 day show and when we arrived Jazz was so hyper she was 'floating on air'. She was bucking and squealing in her stable then pranced round the warm up like an unexploded bomb when I went to give her some work. She was just excited but I was wondering how she would cope in the ring the next day when I remembered the RelaxMe  supplement and decided to try it. After two feeds on the loading dose I couldn't believe the difference! Jazz came out the next morning completely calm and focused. She went into the ring and jumped an amazing double clear to win the Novice Scope qualifier. It was one of her best rounds to date and she repeated the performance the next day winning the class again qualifying for Scope with two double clears. She then went on to jump very well in her first Newcomers straight in the main arena on the final day. Jazz is now on the maintenance dose of RelaxMe and is so much calmer in herself at home and at shows. I can't thank you enough for how RelaxMe  has improved our performance.' Thanks Lucy!

Melissa Chennells story on Relax Me!

Melissa Chennells Relax Me‘I have a 15.2 Welsh Section D 10 year old gelding. I bought him from sales about 3 1/2 years ago now, and when buying him I didn't really know much about him. As time went on I realised he was a little different to what I had been told, he was very opinionated and would become scared very easily. He also was rather unsafe to ride. I have previously tried him on other calmers however none seemed to have any effect. I started him on Relax Me last November after recommendations. Since having him on Relax Me I have seen a different horse. I am now able to ride him safely and feel confident to do things with him again, he seems a lot happier in himself and seems to enjoy work now. I have recommended it myself to others as I would never use anything else now’.  Thank you so much Melissa!
